This is the first piece in my newest collection, Moments In Grief, which continues my ongoing series A Mother’s Journey. These works are abstract explorations of the emotions I’ve been navigating since becoming a mother.

In this piece, the first created for this collection, I explore grief as it relates to the postpartum experience: the losses and shifts that accompany new life. The old body, the freedom once felt, the evolving relationships, and the self released to make space for another life. Through layered movement and unconventional form, I seek to capture the tension between release and resistance, the way grief coils and unravels within the postpartum experience. It is less an end than a threshold, a reminder that mourning and renewal can coexist.

This collection honors the emotional truths of parenthood, offering space for what is often unseen: the grief woven into joy and acceptance, the surrender folded into love and peace.
