January, the month of snow, icicles, slippery roads and sidewalks. The constant burr of snow blowers, trying to keep all the snow in it’s place! It’s the perfect time to take an art class, visit an art gallery, go the theater or just stay home and read a book with hot milky drink! Use this time to explore the arts!
Youth Classes
Kristina is back with her “Little Makers”, the first one on February 12, has a Valentines theme. We also have a Spring Break Camp, with one of our new instructors, Anwesha Guha, this looks like a lot of fun! A series of four mornings, taking home an art piece each day!
if you are a Scout Group and need an arts badge, please ask Kristina!

The adult classes for 2023 are starting to be posted. We have some new instructors. We are currently offering alcohol inks, drawing, acrylics and a charcoal class.

Arbor Lakes Art Fair 2023
We have just released the information and application for the 2023 summer arts event. It will be held in the heart of Maple Grove, weekend of 15th & 16th July. We have our fantastically generous sponsor The Shoppes at Arbor Lakes support once more. They truly make this event possible each summer!
Our Gallery Shows
Leaving: The Tiny Show. This was a well received first for Maple Grove Arts Center. We had several new and returning artists and we sold several pieces.
Arriving: The Textile Show. This is being installed as you read this email. Don’t miss this exciting show featuring several talented fabric artists. The opening is February 9th. Hope to see you there!
Next Up: Arts North Traveling Show. We will be proud to present of chosen pieces from this renowned international art show currently at Hopkins Center of the Arts.
The schedule for 2023 is now pretty solid and you can see it here. We have some new themes and some old ones in the mix. Be sure to check it out! We are looking for sponsors for these shows, either a corporate sponsorship or personal donation. If interested, please contact Lise Spence-Parsons.

We are always looking for new businesses to host art. So, if you are a new business in Maple Grove and you want to play with the cool kids in town and brighten your walls, please contact Natalie Anderson, our Business of Art Director.
Grove Art Originals
January can be a long, hard and miserable month. Come down to the Center and check out what “cheer-up” goodies we have on hand.
If you are interested in finding out more from either a buyer or seller standpoint, please check out this page on our website.
Arty Fun Birthday Parties
We also partner with another local organization to host kids’ party parties at the Arts Center. Please contact with Lisa Van Wyk to arrange the details!
Groups
We currently have two peer-to-peer based arts groups. These are volunteer led and open to any advocate to come and join. The Writer’s Studio is on Wednesdays, 11:00-1:00pm and is led by Marj Helmer. Fridays, we have Open Art Studio, led by Valerie Coopet, 10:00-1:00pm. Just bring your materials and join in! You may attend twice before being asked to purchase an advocacy.
Meet the Volunteers at Maple Grove Arts Center
Last month you “met” Natalie. This month our feature is Kazimir Fodor.
Kazimir Fodor - Boutique Director
Kazimir Fodor is a multimedia and sequential artist, visually creating worlds and narratives with a variety of mediums. She was previously the co-curator for St. Cloud's Gallery Vault, and brings that experience into her current work as the Boutique Director for MGAC. When not enjoying Minnesota's excellent birdwatching, she spends her time at home with her family and silly pet pigeon.
Want to Get More Involved?
We are always looking for more volunteers and have a page here that details specific opportunities we have available.
Maple Grove Arts Center is a 501c3 organization and donations form a valuable part of our revenue stream. We are staffed entirely by volunteers.
