2025 In My Own Backyard Show Winners
1st Place
Train at Dusk by Theodore Jantzen
First place goes to a photograph that immediately caught my eye and kept drawing me in the longer I looked. The natural lighting is beautiful, and there’s a strong sense of movement that flows from the foreground right through to the background. Technically, it’s well executed, with thoughtful composition and a clear emphasis on the subject.
2nd Place
The Thinker by Rachel Hall
Second place is awarded to a piece that feels both whimsical and impeccably timed. One of those rare moments where the photographer was clearly in the right place at the right time. Technically, it’s stunning: sharp throughout, with fine detail that really holds your attention. The subject is beautifully framed against the background, creating contrast that enhances the entire image.
3rd Place
Adagio in June by Michelle Davis
Third place goes to a photograph that immediately brought a smile to my face. There’s a subtle detail—something at the bottom of the frame—that creates a clever visual trick. The composition is well thought-out, with a nice contrast between foreground and background, and a natural framing element that draws your eye into the scene. It also captured the theme of the show beautifully.
