It’s been a while! The Holidays have come and gone, and now we are amid the coldest two months in Minnesota, January and February. Although this is my 20th winter here, it will never cease to amaze me how cold it can get here!
We’ve got a few things to share with you all!
Moving onto Retirement
Those of you, that have been involved with Maple Grove Arts Center will know Lorrie Link. Lorrie has been a well-known and respected artist for many years in Maple Grove. She has also worked tirelessly for the arts in this area for over 24 years. Lorrie retired mid January and plans to spend more time with her family traveling and enjoy all that life offers.
The Board, Staff and Volunteers thank Lorrie for all her work, in setting up what we now know and love as the Maple Grove Arts Center. She has worked with many prominent artists, including Steve Sack, Scott Hanson and Diana Pierce. She also grew the annual art fair into a loved event each summer by artists and the public alike. We’ve had a lot of great art shows in both our galleries over the years, many of which were Lorrie’s ideas.
She has left us an excellent foundation upon which to grow this much needed amenity in Maple Grove.
Thank you Lorrie, we all wish you a wonderful retirement.
Our Space
Over the Holidays, we installed some new flooring in the space. The easy clean-up and durability means we can offer some different classes and events in the future. Together with our new hanging system, we now have a wonderful space for the entire community to come and enjoy art and all it offers!
Opening Soon!
This show opens to the public on Thursday, February 3rd. It will also be available to see online from Thursday morning, with many pieces for sale.
The opening night is February 17, 6:30 - 9:00pm. We have to limit numbers for Covid, so we ask you to please register your preferred time slot. We will have some Covid friendly snacks and a cash wine bar.
Arbor Lakes Art Fair
It’s time to prepare for the art fair. This year it’s the weekend of July 16th & 17th. It will be at The Shoppes at Arbor Lakes. This is a beautiful venue with great amenities, including restaurants and general retail. We are planning for 30+ artist to attend with high-quality art that will both inspire and amaze you!
The artist application is open and Early Bird pricing is available until 3/11/22. Don’t delay!
Summer Camps and General Classes
We are developing and posting classes daily. These will include general youth classes, summer art camps and adult offerings. Please check back often! Spaces on classes are restricted because of Covid.
Business of Art Programming
Our Business of Art is in it’s first quarters rotation for 2022. You can see this art in person at Center in The Schroeder Gallery, Dunn Brothers Coffee, Topline Credit Union, Maple Grove Government Center and Wholefoods Market. All the pieces can be purchased from your phone or computer via our online listings.
Maple Grove Arts Center is 501c3 and we rely on donations to keep going. We are staffed entirely by volunteers, so we are always looking for people to come and help. If this interests you, then please contact Kristina Makousky, our wonderful Volunteer Coordinator.
